Gwinnett County Police officer out of ICU

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A Gwinnett County Police officer who was involved in an accident on Interstate 85 Monday afternoon has been released from the intensive care unit.

Officer Todd Ramsey, a 22-year veteran, was in his patrol car when investigators said he rear-ended another vehicle, setting off a four-car chain reaction.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. along Interstate 85 North about a mile south of Lawrenceville Suwanee Road.

Police said the driver who was behind the wheel of the car Ramsey struck, identified as 33-year-old Sarah Wood, also remained in the hospital Tuesday evening, but was listed in serious condition.

The two other drivers involved in the accident were treated and released at the scene.

Police said they are still investigating the cause of the crash.
