LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - One man was rushed to the hospital after an officer-involved shooting in Gwinnett County Saturday morning. Police say the man was armed and confronted one of their officers, so the officer opened fire.
Crime Scene Investigators and the Gwinnett County Police Department's deadly force investigation team could be seen along Foxcroft Road in Lawrenceville.
"There's about 2 dozen police cars, it's a little disconcerting," said Terry Fitzpatrick who lives in the neighborhood.

A home on this quiet road was the scene of an officer-involved shooting.
Officers raced to the house after a 911 call came in from a teenage girl. Police say the teen told the dispatcher that her mother and stepfather were arguing in the backyard and her stepfather had a gun.
"When our officer initially responded to the scene, he began walking toward the backyard of the home and heard a gunshot," said Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Collin Flynn.
Police say after hearing the gunfire, the officer ran toward the fence to the backyard and saw a man standing there with a handgun.
"That male confronted the officer," said Sgt. Flynn. "Our officer shot that suspect in the leg."
Investigators say the man then dropped his weapon.
Officers began to render aid. He was later rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
He is expected to face charges.
"Charges are forthcoming against the suspect," said Sgt. Flynn.
No one in the home and no officers were injured.
Residents are still stunned by the sound of gunfire and the heavy police presence in their neighborhood.
"This is a really quiet neighborhood. We don't have incidents like this, ever," said Fitzpatrick.
