Habersham County deputies warn about fake deputy
HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. - The Habersham County Sheriff's Office is warning residents to be on the lookout for a man pretending to be one of their deputies.
The sheriff’s office posted the advisory on their Facebook page Tuesday. Deputies said the man was seen driving around in a black Dodge Charger and has attempted to pull people over by flashing his headlights.
The driver is described by deputies as a white man in his 50s with salt and pepper hair and a gray or white goatee.
The sheriff’s office said all of the county’s deputies have blue lights even if the cars are not marked. They said any driver who is flashing their lights to pull over a car should be reported.
Deputies also said drivers can always call 911 even if they see blue lights to ensure it is a law enforcement officer.
