Habersham County's new honorary deputy
HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. - Habersham County has a brand new honorary deputy.
Pete Moore has always wanted to become a police officer, but was never able to fulfill his dream because of his disability. Tuesday, at the Habersham County Courthouse, Moore was honored with a swearing in ceremony and was able to go on a ride along with one of the deputies.
Moore said his father was a police officer and he wanted to be just like his dad.
"It means a whole lot," Moore told FOX 5. "Because it's my dream."
Following the ceremony, Moore was brought back to his home at The Oaks-Scenic View, which is a nursing facility in Baldwin. He was greeted with warm welcomes and congratulations.
"He had that hope and dream and we want to keep that hope and dream alive," one deputy told us. "Hope is what keeps us going."
Moore told FOX 5 he plans to patrol the Oaks.
From all of us at FOX 5, congrats Mr. Moore!
