Happy 102nd birthday! Henry County woman celebrates milestone with parade

Deputies from the Henry County and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Offices joined forces on Friday to honor Ms. Lillie Mae Hightower on her 102nd birthday with a heartfelt parade in front of her home. The deputies drove by, delivering well wishes and bringing joy to the centenarian.

"I feel wonderful," said Ms. Hightower, smiling as she watched the procession. "I’m so proud that they would take up this time to celebrate me."

Ms. Hightower, a resident of Henry County for nearly two years, previously lived in Johnson County, where she worked as the head cook at the local high school for 35 years. Reflecting on her career, she recalled, "I had to handle the food, serve the kids, and make them happy. It was my joy to see them smile and feel good."

Family members gathered to celebrate Ms. Hightower, who expressed gratitude for her long life and strong faith. "I’m so proud to see my family here," she said. "I’ve been blessed with six children—two girls and four boys. I’ve lost two sons, but I still have my girls and many loved ones. God has been good to me all these years, and I’m so thankful."
