NEWNAN, Ga - Seven headstones and a few granite flower vases were damaged at Eastview Cemetery in Newnan.
"It's ridiculous," Lt. Tate Washington said.
Lieutenant Tate Washington with Newnan Police says a cemetery crew doing routine maintenance noticed the destruction back on Dec. 16.
"Right during the holiday season," Tate said. "Family members usually go to grave site to visit family during holidays. I'd hate to know someone came there and saw this. It's just not what you'd expect."
Washington says they are working to track down the families.
"It's hard because some headstones date back to the 1800's," Washington said. "A few were damaged so bad they are unreadable."
Police say whoever is responsible is facing charges.
"If anyone has any information, we are asking them to come forward," Washington told FOX 5.
