Heavy rains could lead to some flooding in southwest Alabama
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Forecasters say prolonged periods of rain could lead to rising rivers and some flooding in southwest Alabama.
The National Weather Service said the flood threat will exist Friday and Saturday over the state's southwest corner, where rainfall totals of up to 8 inches are expected.
Forecasters say there's also the potential for isolated severe thunderstorms on Friday.
Later, on Sunday night and into Monday morning, forecasters expect another threat of severe thunderstorms over northern Alabama. They say those storms could produce damaging wind and large hail.
