CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - A Henry County police officer is recovering from injuries after an overnight crash with an alleged drunk driver on a Georgia interstate.
The crash happened before 1 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 675 at Highway 138 in Clayton County.
FOX 5 cameras saw multiple officers on the scene examining the damaged police cruiser.
Investigators say the other driver failed to yield the right of way while turning left on the interstate, leading to the crash. The driver then left the scene and was found later.
Medics transported the officer to Piedmont Henry for treatment. They are expected to recover.
Georgia State Patrol troopers charged the other driver with driving under the influence, failure to yield, due regard, and leaving the scene.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, is in custody at the Clayton County Jail.
