LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Gwinnett County police are working to learn what led up to a shooting that claimed the lives of two people and sent another two to the hospital Thursday night.
The shooting was reported at a home on Baldridge Drive NW in Lawrenceville, which is located off of Old Norcross Road, just after 7 p.m.
According to Gwinnett Police, the shooting happened outside the home. They say an argument occurred before the gunfire. When officers arrived they found two Black males dead. Two other Black males were found with gunshot wounds and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
Residents say they were concerned that something as violent as this shooting would play out in their neighborhood.
"I've been living here 13 years and I've never seen anything like this," one neighbor told FOX 5. "I didn't know this would go on in this neighborhood. Like, wow."
Investigators have not said if the victims knew each other and they have not released any information about whether any of them lived in the home where the shooting happened or in the nearby area.
The cause of the argument that sparked the violence also isn't known.
Detectives talked to neighbors hoping to come up with a motive and to see if any suspects were still on the run.
"I'm surprised to be honest because none of that ever happens here," another neighbor said. "It's sad. It's concerning."
The shooting was the first in a night that ended with three people dead in the county. Just four hours after the violence in Lawrenceville, police say another man was found shot to death after a confrontation in Dacula.
The deceased were identified on Friday morning as 22-year-old Chandler Smith-Millions of Lawrenceville and 23-year-old Jakarri Blackwell of Lawrenceville.
If you have any information that could help with the investigation, call the Gwinnett County Police Department.
