Shooting suspect not found in Grayson home after SWAT team moves in

The Gwinnett County Police Department is searching for a killer who fled from his home in quiet neighborhood in the Grayson area Sunday afternoon.

After the SWAT team surrounded a home on Roseberry Lane for more than six hours, they found out no one was inside.

It was a long and traumatic day for people who live around there.

"[The police] told us to get back inside, don’t stand by the windows, lock your doors don’t come out at all," said Shari Morgan, who lives near the house at which guns were pointed.

One neighbor said he witnessed police drag the man who had been shot to safety, but it was already too late to save him.

"I saw all the cruisers at the top of the hill, drove down, and we were actually here as they were dragging the body off," said a man who just wanted us to call him Keith. "Looked like one shot to the head."

Keith said he served in the Marine Corps and in that moment of uncertainty, he had one thought.

"My kids at home," he said. "I need to go arm myself because I don’t know what’s going on. I need to protect my family."

Just before 6 p.m., FOX 5 heard SWAT members deploy a flashbang and enter the home. That’s when they discovered their suspect was long gone.

Neighbors say there was always something off over at that house.

"It’s an interesting house," said Morgan. "There’s usually a lot going on over there, which is not normally the vibe of this neighborhood."

Other neighbors said they would frequently hear  a lot of arguing and saw a lot of coming and going.

"A man’s life is gone today, another kid’s life is ruined. If he survives," Keith said. "It’s horrible."

Police did confirm the victim was a man, but did not identify the suspect they are looking for nor did they give a description or their relation to the victim.

"Dude, you can’t run, you can’t hide today. This ain’t the movies. It’s not going to happen," Keith said.

There’s no word on any motive yet either.
