GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Luke Edwards Road, SE in Dacula.

Luckily, neighbors let first responders know that no one was home. Several dogs were safely removed from the backyard.
Two firefighters were taken to the hospital for heat-related illness and another was evaluated and released at the scene by paramedics. All three firefighters are doing ok and are expected to make a full recovery.

When crews arrived to the 12,000 square foot home the structure was already engulfed in intense flames. First responders were able to use attack and supply hose lines until thunderstorms temporarily suspended efforts.

According to the Gwinnett County Fire Department, "the structure and contents are a total loss."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
