DeKalb County Fire Captain Jaeson Daniels addressed the media on Tuesday after a dead body was found in the area of a fire and crash on I-85. The incident shut down three northbound lanes of traffic while officials opened an investigation.

A dead body was found near the scene of a fire and crash on I-85 NB at Northcrest Road at around 9:40 p.m. in DeKalb County on Tuesday.

It's not clear how many cars or people were involved in the car crash or what led to the fire. The deceased person has not yet been identified.

"As far as our investigation goes, we're going to find out how that person died," DeKalb County Fire Captain Jaeson Daniels said.

He also said he could not confirm whether anyone was injured in the crash.

Crash on I-85 Northbound at Northcrest Rd NB

Three northbound lanes were shut down.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) anticipated that the roadway would've been cleared by 11 p.m. At 10:54 p.m., surveillance of the area showed traffic on the interstate beginning to move.
