Ambulance heading to emergency hit by truck

An overturned ambulance near an I-85 off-ramp caused a massive traffic jam on Saturday. Officials say the driver of a truck failed to stop, smashing into the emergency vehicle.

An ambulance crash near an I-85 ramp sent three people to the hospital Saturday evening.

The fire department, police and a tow truck responded to the scene of a crash on Clairmont Road in Brookhaven where a truck had reportedly failed to yield, colliding with an American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance that was on its way to an emergency. Luckily, there were no patients inside the vehicle yet.

The two passengers of the ambulance were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

RAW: Ambulance tips over on I-85

An ambulance crash near a ramp onto I-85 caused a delay in traffic Saturday evening.

One passenger of the truck was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Crews worked to get the overturned vehicle turned right side up at around 6:30 p.m.

By 6:36 p.m., the scene began to clear, some traffic was allowed to flow, and the ambulance was towed away at 6:47 p.m.

The driver of the truck was arrested for driving without a license and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
