ATLANTA - At least one person was injured in what Atlanta Police investigators believe was a road rage incident on Interstate 85 early Monday morning.
According to police, officers responded to a call about a person shot at 4:46 a.m. on I-85 North near Ga. Highway 400. The victim turned out to be a 23-year-old woman.
"It appears as though there was a dispute between two vehicles and that dispute escalated to a gun battle between both vehicles," said Atlanta Police Capt. Jason Smith. "When police arrived, we did recover a weapon and the female victim was transported. She is in stable condition as of right now and it's an ongoing investigation."
Police said the driver of the car, a 24-year-old man, told officers the gun belonged to him.

SKYFOX5 flew over the scene and captured a light-colored sedan pulled over on the highway. The other vehicle involved, police said, was a black Mercedes-Benz SUV. They do not know whether anyone inside that car was shot.
This is just the most recent incident in a string of shootings on Atlanta's highways. Capt. Smith said it has become a national trend and he pleaded with drivers to practice patience.
"We are in the City of Atlanta," said Capt. Smith during a news conference Monday. "I think we all know Atlanta traffic. We've all been around Atlanta traffic. You guys are going to get frustrated when you leave here. I'm going to get frustrated when I leave. I'm going to get frustrated tomorrow morning on my way in, so are you guys. So, we'd like to remind everybody to be a courteous driver. Use your blinker. Somebody cuts you off, it's not the end of the world. Let's just all go on about our day. You never know what's going on with that other car, right? So, everybody just relax and know that it's Atlanta traffic and we're going to get through it like we normally do."
