Metro Atlanta officer representing Georgia in USA Police and Fire Championship
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - A Johns Creek officer is heading to California to represent Georgia in the USA Police and Fire Championship.
Officer Shy'Keya Wimberly has been competing in track and field since she was 12 years old. Her passion for the sport hasn't stopped since becoming a police officer.
Now she's on her way to San Diego to run in the USA Police and Fire Championship, which will take place from June 10 through the 17.
Wimberly, who is also a college national champion, says she's "honored" to represent Johns Creek and the Peach State at the games.
"I look forward to adding a few more gold medals to my collection and bringing more attention to our great city," she said.
