Justice Department Asks to Halt Civil Case in Kendrick Johnson
VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Justice Department has filed motions to stop the collection of evidence in the civil suit in connection with the death of a Valdosta teen.
Multiple sources, including the Valdosta Daily Times ,report that the Department of Justice has asked for 180 days to continue its criminal investigation into the death of Kendrick Johnson before allowing his parents $100 million wrongful death suit to move forward.
The Lowndes County High School student was found dead in a rolled up gym mat. An autopsy ruled the death an accident, but his parents believe their son was killed during an altercation.
