Harris' approval rating beats Biden's in new poll
Vice President Kamala Harris’ approval rating in a new Gallup poll was found to be higher than President Joe Biden’s.
Overall, 45% of U.S. adults approve of the job Harris is doing, while 39% approve of the job Biden is doing.

Election day approaching
With less than three weeks to go before Election Day, Harris’ approval rating is essentially unchanged from one month ago, when it was at 44% among U.S. adults.
Because U.S. elections haven’t involved many other current vice presidents who are running for president, it’s unclear how Harris’ current approval rating as vice president will factor into the election outcome.
"In September 1988, before George H.W. Bush won the presidency, an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll showed 54% of likely voters approved of the job Bush had done as Ronald Reagan’s vice president," Gallup noted.
"Conversely, in August 2000, before Al Gore lost the election, a Gallup poll found that 71% of U.S. adults approved of how he handled his job as Bill Clinton’s vice president."

Congressional approval remains low
Meanwhile, Americans’ approval of the job Congress is doing has edged down to 16% in the past month.
Congress’ job approval rating hasn’t risen above 20% since January 2023, Gallup noted.
It reached a record low of 9% in November 2013 following a federal government shutdown.
In addition to the presidency, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and one-third of seats in the Senate are on the ballot this year. Americans’ low approval could factor into the election outcome.
