Man shot, killed by law enforcement after driving into Texas mall during chase, injuring 5

The Texas Department of Public Safety said a man was shot and killed by law enforcement after driving through the doors of the Killeen Mall, and injuring five people Saturday.

Officials said the man was being chased by law enforcement around 5 p.m. Saturday when he drove through the glass doors and into JC Penney and hit multiple people.

The man drove into the store, injuring five people. Some of those injuries were severe, authorities said. Officials said four people were transported to the hospital from the scene. The fifth person arrived at the hospital in a personal vehicle.

Once inside the store, the man got out of the truck and ran. Officials said multiple agencies opened fire on the man, killing him.

The name of the man shot by police has not been released.

Officials said despite rumors going around social media, there was never an active shooter at the mall.
