Body of man who jumped off jet ski found in Lake Lanier

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - The body of a man who jumped off a jet ski into Lake Lanier has been recovered.
Walter Jaurez Guardado, 37, of Roswell had reportedly gone to East Bank Park off of Burford Dam Road with his girlfriend Saturday. While riding on the lake with a jet ski, Guardado jumped off and tried to swim back to shore. His girlfriend said he never turned up.
Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, along with Hall County Fire, spent Saturday and Sunday searching the water.
On Monday, divers with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources confirmed they found Guardado approximately 20 feet underwater. Officials say he drowned.
