Law Enforcement Gun Stolen in Smash and Grab
ATLANTA - A thief found a gun and a weapons belt commonly used by law enforcement in a bag inside one of the vehicles broken into in the latest in a string of smash and grabs that have happened around Atlanta.
The Fulton County Marshal Antonio Johnson believes some thieves are specifically looking for guns with the knowledge that more and more individuals are carrying firearms.
This particular crime hit home for the marshal's office because a cadet had the weapon but did not take it into his apartment when he got home. Fortunately, Johnson said, the firearm had been disabled as a training weapon.
That thief will discover it will not fire. Johnson said protocol was broken nonetheless. The unidentified recruit will not be fired, but was sent to remedial training.
