Some DeKalb County residents had no choice but to jump to their own safety early Monday morning.

A fast-moving fire swept through Le Parc Fontaine in Lithonia, affecting 16 units in two different buildings. Officials said two dozen residents woke up to smoke around 5:30 a.m.

Roommates Shaquan Alston and Trenton Wyatt told FOX 5 they jumped from their home, then managed to alert their neighbors.

The Red Cross is now assisting the displaced residents. A total of seven families, 25 people, are displaced.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
