Lone employee inside Jimmy Johns when robber walks in, demands cash
VINNINGS, Ga. - Cobb County Police are looking for a robber who held up the Jimmy Johns restaurant in Vinings Tuesday night. A female employee was the only one inside when the man walked in with a gun and demanded cash.
Ashley Smith said she was about to close up for the night when she saw the man at the counter dressed all in black.
"I really thought I was going to die. I thought that was it," said Smith.
"He was like, you can give me everything you got. It didn't register, then I saw the gun it was under his jacket and he flashed it up at me," said Smith.
Smith said she opened the register and threw the drawer of money on the counter. She even tried to give him the days tip money. The jar had 3 bucks and some change in it.
"I took the tip jar and tipped it out over it. he said I don't want that," said Smith.
Smith said as he was stuffing money into his pockets he appeared nervous.
"He was screaming and he was nervous the whole time looking behind him, fidgety," said Smith.
The man ran out of the restaurant. Smith says he was inside less than a minute, but it seemed like an eternity.
Smith said he's African American about 6 feet tall with a slender build and a full, shaggy beard. She says it was the man's eyes that shot fear right through her.
"Scary eyes, real scary eyes. His eyes will be something I won't be able to forget," said Smith.
Smith said the restaurant is already making changes. Including adding staff at night, additional lighting, and other security measures.
She said she just wants this guy caught soon.
