ATLANTA - Atlanta police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning on Cheshire Bridge Road.
What we know:
Officers responded to a shooting call at 2470 Cheshire Bridge Road NE around 7:52 a.m. on Jan. 18. Upon arrival, they found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Police quickly secured the area and began investigating the homicide.
Later the same day, Zone 2 officers responded to a criminal trespass call at a nearby location, 2350 Cheshire Bridge Road NE. Upon arriving, an officer recognized the suspect involved in the trespassing as a person of interest in the earlier homicide. The suspect, identified as Malik Jones, 29, was taken into custody without incident. Police also recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
What we don't know:
The individual who was shot to death has not been identified.
Additionally, the motive for the shooting is unknown at this point.
What's next:
Jones was transported to police headquarters for questioning by homicide detectives. Charges, including murder, are pending as the investigation continues.
