Man arrested in Gwinnett County for stealing money during a fraudulent Facebook sale
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - The Gwinnett County Police Department say they quickly apprehended a suspect minutes after he allegedly stole $5,000 in a fraudulent vehicle sale in unincorporated Duluth.
On Jan. 6, officers from the Central precinct responded to a report of theft at 1625 Pleasant Hill Road. The victim told police he had arranged to purchase a white Dodge Charger from a man he met on Facebook Marketplace. During the transaction, the suspect took $5,000 in cash and fled in the vehicle.
Using advanced technology, analysts from the department’s Real-Time Crime Center tracked the suspect’s vehicle through DOT and FLOCK cameras. About 30 minutes later, a K9 officer located the vehicle near Old Norcross Road and Herrington Road and conducted a traffic stop.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Kobe Isaih Romain-Grant of Suwanee, was arrested without incident. Officers recovered the stolen $5,000. Romain-Grant was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail and charged with felony theft by taking.
