Man arrested for kidnapping, carjacking on Nov. 30 in Cobb County

Cobb County police are investigating a kidnapping and carjacking that occurred at Fair Oaks Park on the evening of Nov. 30, 2024.

According to authorities, Cesar Murillo-Murillo went to the park to meet a female acquaintance when he was confronted by a man armed with a handgun. The suspect, later identified as Edwin Flores Jr., discharged the weapon, though Murillo-Murillo was not struck. Flores then detained Murillo-Murillo in handcuffs, forced him into a vehicle, and stole his Chevrolet Silverado.

Murillo-Murillo was eventually able to escape near Austell Road and Windy Hill Road, where he contacted police for assistance. Officers recovered the stolen vehicle, and the Major Crimes Unit launched an investigation.

Warrants were secured for both Flores and the female acquaintance in connection with the incident. Flores was arrested on Dec. 3 and charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, kidnapping, possession of a firearm or knife by a felon, and hijacking of a motor vehicle. No bond has been set at this time.

The status of the female acquaintance is unknown.
