Man arrested in LaGrange for taking 3-month-old son during argument
LAGRANGE, Ga. - A man was arrested and charged after allegedly kidnapping his 3-month-old son following a domestic dispute with the child’s mother, according to the LaGrange Police Department.
Officers responded to Youngs Mill Road at 3:35 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports of a kidnapping in progress. Authorities said the suspect, identified as Jesus Javier Perdomo Fanaite, had an argument earlier in the day with the child’s mother, Michell Castillo, at the Motel 6 on Lafayette Parkway. The altercation reportedly began when Castillo ended their relationship.
During the dispute, Castillo told Perdomo she would call 911, prompting him to take her phone and leave the motel. Castillo used a bystander’s phone to contact a family member and later went to the nearby LaGrange Mall. Perdomo allegedly followed her there, leading to another argument. Police were called to the mall, but Perdomo left before officers arrived.
Later, Castillo went to Youngs Mill Road, where police say Perdomo confronted her again. As she was removing her infant son from her vehicle, Perdomo reportedly took the baby from her arms and fled.
Detectives located Perdomo in another vehicle and arrested him without incident. The child was safely returned to Castillo at 5:42 p.m., authorities said.
Perdomo was taken to the Troup County Jail and faces charges connected to the incidents.
