A man is behind bars after a woman was found murdered in Douglas County last month.

On January 25, deputies got a call after someone found a dead woman on the side of West Union Hill Road at Ephesus Church Road. The woman was identified as Sheila Bryant, 55, of Bremen.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation later determined the woman was strangled to death. Investigators also determined she was murdered at another location before being left on the side of the road.

Eric Greene was named as a person of interest early on in the case. Then, on February 7, Greene was found in Bryant's car in Paulding County where he was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Over the weekend, Greene was charged with Bryant's murder as well as motor vehicle theft.

Greene had a first appearance hearing on Monday where he was denied bond.
