Man charged with murder of College Park father

Police in College Park have charged a man in the shooting death of a 35-year-old father of four.

Kentavious Patterson, 24, is being charged with murder. College Park Police said Patterson shot Gregory Gallishaw multiple times Sunday afternoon outside of an apartment in the Old Town Villa apartment complex off Godby Road. FOX 5 News was on the scene when authorities got a tip that a man fitting the suspect's description was still in the residential area.

"A witness told us that the man she thought shot the victim was at an apartment in the back of the complex," Major Lance Patterson said. "Police went there to confront him, but he took off. Police were able to apprehend him. He did have illegal drugs on him so he was taken in on unrelated charges."

Patterson said during questioning, Patterson admitted to shooting Gallishaw.

"He said that Gallishaw confronted him multiple times for firing gunshots in the air," Patterson said. "Some sort of altercation ensued between the two men and Patterson told investigators he shot and killed Gallishaw. He even said Gallishaw had mentioned having two kids a few doors down as being one of the primary reasons he was asking him to stop firing his weapon."

Police said Gallishaw died at the hospital. The father of four was an only child. His mother, Marie, got the news while she was at church.

"He took away a dad from his kids and he took a mother's only child away too," Marie Gallashaw said.
