ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - An instruction to a smoker about restrictions at the airport escalates quickly as the man pulls a knife.
Police officer Peter Diaz sees him and has to make a decision.
The knife the man was holding turned out to be 11 and a half inches long.
Diaz calmly tries to convince the man to drop the knife and go to the floor.
At the same time, Diaz had his Taser trained on 39-year-old Calvin Tooks.
Tooks complied to a point and did not move. All the while, Diaz, who had notified dispatch, kept his one-sided conversation alive until backup officers arrived.
They did and another officer deployed his Taser and ended the incident.
Tooks was taken to the Clayton County Jail.
