Gainesville Police say they are searching for a gunman or gunmen following a violent confrontation at a Huddle House on Jesse Jewell Parkway Wednesday night.

Investigators tell FOX 5 News that at least one person entered the restaurant about 11:30 p.m. and began firing a weapon. Only two employees were inside at the time. Police say Michael Benham, 60, of Lula, Georgia, was struck multiple times in the gunfire. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police say Benham's female co-worker escaped the gunfire and ran to a nearby gas station to call for help.

Police have not detailed a possible motive in the case. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is said to be ongoing.
