A Gwinnett County Judge denied bond for 24 year old hit and run suspect Jacob O'Reilly Monday--citing concerns the Auburn man was a flight risk. O'Reilly is charged with vehicular homicide, hit and run and several traffic crimes that stem from the July 26 crash that claimed the life of Scott Mosley.
Police say 24 year old Mosley had just fallen off of his motorcycle at the intersection of Gravel Springs Rd and Camp Branch Rd in Buford, but survived. What killed him, according to Gwinnett police, was the impact of O'Reilly's Honda Accord.
Cpl. Deon Washington showed Fox 5 the tan Accord after it was processed by investigators at the Gwinnett Police Headquarters. Minor front damage is visible, but Cpl. Washington says it does not appear any repairs were made to cover up the alleged crimes.
O'Reilly was arrested Sunday at the home he shares with his father in Auburn, GA. Cpl Deon Washington says an investigator spotted the vehicle Sunday as he drove through the parking lot of the Mall of Georgia--he was looking for a Honda with front end damage. Police say the car was parked in front of the PF Chang's Restaurant where O'Reilly told the judge he's worked as a cook for 5 years.
O'Reilly will remain in the Gwinnett County jail until his bond hearing on August 14. His father did not comment on camera, but did tell Fox 5's Portia Bruner he was "very sorry for the (Mosely) family.
