Man escapes police custody in Bartow County
BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. - A man who escaped police custody, and was on the run for 24 hours, is now behind bars.
Hunter Nichols, Brittany Blakely and Angela Maria O'Hare are all facing charges. Police said Nichols escaped from police custody, and Blakely and O’Hare helped him while he was on the run.
It started late Tuesday night when Cartersville police made a traffic stop at Highway 411 and State Route 20 after officers said they observed a man in the backseat shaking and nervous.
They later identified him as Nichols with an outstanding warrant in North Carolina for felony fleeing and eluding police. Officers immediately arrested Nichols and placed him the back of the patrol car.
FOX 5 has learned Nichols was able to escape the patrol car because of a problem with the window.
Hours later, police received a tip that led them to a house near the traffic stop.
That is when they said they found Nichols hiding in a part of the house that was under construction. They said he was actually inside a wall.
Police said Blakely and O’Hare were helping him hide. They are charged with interfering with the apprehension of Nichols.
