South Fulton police arrested a 65-year-old man who they said was waiting for them after he allegedly shot a man inside the Glenwood West Apartments Thursday morning.

Major Sheila Rogers told reporters the victim's body was still inside the apartment when police arrived just after 8:30 a.m.

Major Rogers said the 65-year-old man called 911 and was cooperative when officers arrived at the complex on Fairburn Road.

"He said something to the effect of 'I messed up'-- not those exact words, but something to the fact effect. We are still trying to determine the relationship between the two and who lived in the apartment, but the victim was shot inside the apartment and the men did know each other," said Major Rogers.

Police questioned the suspect for several hours at the apartment, and then took him to police headquarters. Investigators said the motive remains unclear, but the major said it helps that the suspect remained at the scene.

"Investigators still have a lot to figure out, but we will get to the bottom of this," said the Major.

South Fulton Police have not yet released the names of the victim or the suspect.
