A house fire in southeast Atlanta claimed a man's life early Monday morning.

The blaze broke out at a home on Murray Street before 1 a.m. Monday. Responding firefighters arrived to find flames shooting out of the home.

A neighbor told firefighters a person could be trapped inside, so they looked for a possible victim as they battled the blaze. Officials said they found a man in his 50s dead in an upstairs bedroom.

Firefighters don't think anyone else was in the home.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Officials said the fire may have started in the bedroom where the victim's body was discovered.
