MARTA employee retires after 50 years of service

ATLANTA - A MARTA employee is being honored for his 50 years of service with the transit authority.

Sam Smith retired Tuesday after joining the agency in 1966 as part of a summer program.

He then worked his way up to become the supervisor of bus operations.

Smith was surrounded by his family, friends and former colleagues during his retirement celebrations.
