Massive fire rips through DeKalb County apartment complex
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Firefighters battled a massive blaze at an apartment complex in DeKalb County on Wednesday.
The fire broke out early Wednesday morning at Avondale Forest Apartments, located in the 200 block of Pine Tree Circle.
Officials said at least twelve people, including eight kids and four adults, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene around 6:45 a.m. as large flames tore through the building. More than 50 firefighters responded to the scene to fight the flames.
Officials said 20 units were affected by the fire.
The Red Cross is now helping residents who have been displaced. In a statement, the organization said they are aware of at least 50 people displaced by the fire, and that volunteers will be working with the families.
There is no word yet as to what caused the fire.
