A Warner Robins woman was crowned Miss America on Sunday night.
Miss Georgia, Betty Cantrell, beat out 51 other contestants at the Atlantic City pageant. She wowed the judges with her vocal performance that featured a selection from "Madame Butterfly."
As the winner, Cantrell took home a scholarship worth $50,000 and she will now embark on a national speaking tour.
"So HONORED to be your #MissAmerica 2016!" Cantrell tweeted. "A night I will never forget!"
The pageant also marked the return of Miss America 1984 Vanessa Williams. She was back for the first time after resigning the crown following a nude photo scandal. Pageant executive chairman Sam Haskell apologized to Williams on behalf of the pageant.
