Missing: 24-year-old Clayton County woman missing, may be in Alabama
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Clayton County police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a woman who left her home earlier this week and has since contacted authorities to confirm she is safe.
Officers responded to a missing person call on the 900 block of Maple Leaf Ridge on Jan. 8. Upon arrival, they spoke with the woman’s mother, who reported that her daughter, identified as Markia Woods, left the residence around 8 a.m. that morning.
The mother discovered that Markia had packed her belongings and left a note explaining her decision to leave. In the note, Markia expressed love for her parents and said she needed time for soul-searching and healing. She assured her family that she would return one day.
Police were able to make contact with Markia, who confirmed that she is safe and had traveled to Birmingham, Alabama, via Greyhound bus earlier that day. However, police still want to physically locate Marikia.
Markia is 5-feet-6 inches tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds. No clothing description is available as there were no witnesses or surveillance footage of her departure.
Markia has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Authorities are asking that anyone who sees or makes contact with her call the Clayton County Police Department at 770-477-3747 or dial 911.
