Missing teen with autism found dead in Fayette County
FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. - Deputies in Fayette County said they have found the body of a missing 13-year-old boy with autism after an extensive search Monday afternoon.
Javontay Reid was last seen near his home along Merrydale Drive in Fayetteville around noon Monday, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. About 50 personnel from multiple agencies helped to search for the child.
Deputies said Reid was found dead in a nearby residential pool.
The sheriff’s office posted the following to their Facebook page:
“After an extensive search today involving over 50 personnel of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, Fayette County Fire and Emergency Services, Fayette County Fire Recruit Class, Fayetteville Police Department, Clayton County Police Air Unit, and countless Citizen Volunteers we are saddened to say Javontay Reid was found deceased in a residential pool nearby. Sheriff Barry H. Babb asks for continued prayers for the families, first responders, and volunteers, as well as heartfelt gratitude for all that assisted in the search.”
