CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- A Mattie's Call has been posted by Cartersville Police concerning a missing woman with bad health and bitter cold across the state.

Police said 73-year-old Ethelyen Richards was last seen at a pay-per-week hotel in Cartersville about two weeks ago.

Her son Robert Richards told FOX 5 his mother has dementia, suffers from bouts of  schizophrenia and is very likely without medication.

He said she is fine with medication, but becomes dangerously disoriented without it.

Robert Richards and his friend Tiffany Morgan spent Monday posting fliers at gas stations, restaurants and other locations where anybody might be able to help.

Mr. Richards said his mother was very independent and usually took cabs to shop for groceries or run errands. He said a cab driver told the family the 73-year-old had taken a taxi to catch a bus to go to Florida or Arizona.

Family friend Tiffany Morgan said she called police in Orlando, Florida, and also emailed them a picture of Ms. Richards to them.

Cartersville police said they have been unable to locate Ms. Richards, either out-of-state or in the Cartersville area.

Her family said they have called her cell phone, but have not received an answer. They pledge to continue posting fliers and searching until the 73-year-old is found.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cartersville Police Department.
