CANTON, Ga. - Alyssa Kincaid has been taken into custody following a traffic stop near Pine Crest Road in Canton.
Cherokee County detectives issued an arrest warrant for Alyssa Kincaid, 24, of Canton, wanted for Cruelty to Children in the 2nd Degree in connection with the death of her infant daughter, Ciara Campbell. The baby died after being taken off life support.
Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from a home on Magnolia Springs Drive in Woodstock late Thursday night for a "child not breathing." Lt. Jay Baker told FOX 5 the child was also discovered then with multiple injuries to her body. First responders transported her to Northside Cherokee Hospital and then to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta early Friday morning.
After conducting interviews with Kincaid's boyfriend Nicholas Campbell, Kincaid, and the baby's Grandmother, officials arrested Campbell. He was charged with four counts of cruelty to children in 1st degree, four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of aggravated battery and possession of methamphetamine. Nicholas Campbell was arrested Friday night and is being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond. Officials also confirmed with FOX 5 that Campbell is not the child's biological father.
