Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash on Cobb County's East-West Connector

A motorcyclist was seriously injured during an early morning crash on Dec. 13 in Cobb County on the East-West Connector at its intersection with Camp Highland Road.

Cobb County police say the crash, reported around 4 a.m., involved a gray 2016 Volkswagen Jetta and a green-and-black 2024 Kawasaki ZX-636 motorcycle.

According to preliminary findings from the Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit, the Volkswagen was traveling westbound on the East-West Connector while the motorcycle was heading eastbound. 

The crash occurred when the driver of the Volkswagen made a left turn, entering the path of the Kawasaki. 

As a result, the front of the Volkswagen collided with the front of the Kawasaki. After impact, the Volkswagen came to a final uncontrolled rest in the eastbound lane of the East-West Connector oriented in a southwesterly direction. The Kawasaki came to a final uncontrolled rest in the eastbound lane of the East-West Connector oriented in an easterly direction.

The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured.
