Multi-state car chase ends in officer-involved shooting
WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. - The GBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting after a multi-state car chase.
According to police, the incident started at an armed robbery in Tennessee's Bradley County just east of Chattanooga.
Police lost the suspects, but later spotted them in the Chattanooga area.
The chase continued down Interstate 75 into Georgia, where multiple agencies, including the Georgia State Patrol and the Whitfield Sheriff's Office, joined the pursuit.
Deputies were able to stop the vehicle and put a male suspect in custody, but a female suspect took control of the car and fled down I-75 again.
After a half-mile, police were able to stop the car using a pit maneuver, and they say the woman exited the vehicle with "several weapons in hand."
Officers from multiple agencies fired at the suspect, leaving her with possibly minor injuries and the car possibly being set on fire.
The chase has led to heavy congestion in the area of I-75 southbound before exit 333.
Both suspects are now in custody and have been transported to a Chattanooga hospital for treatment.
