New Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton now open
CANTON, Ga. - The doors to the new Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton officially opened Saturday.
The 440,000 square foot replacement facility is located at 450 Northside Cherokee Boulevard, and is now servicing patients from across the northwest metro Atlanta area.
The Northside Hospital Cherokee replacement campus includes the hospital, a medical office building that opened in early January, and more than 1,650 parking spaces on a 50-acre complex, according to a new release. The new hospital will open with 105 inpatient beds and more than twice the square footage as the current hospital.
“We are thrilled to begin treating patients at the new Northside Hospital Cherokee,” said Billy Hayes, CEO of Northside Hospital Cherokee. “In addition to providing Cherokee and surrounding communities with exceptional patient care, the new hospital will serve as an economic engine for the region, employing 1,700 individuals, generating 300 new jobs, and encouraging destination treatment.”
Starting at 5 a.m. Saturday, the new hospital began an 8-hour transition of patients, staff and equipment from the current location at 201 Hospital Road to the new facility. Moving forward, all people with emergency needs should go directly to the new Northside Hospital Cherokee facility.
Built in the 1960s, the needs of the community outgrew the old facility, the statement said.
