NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. - Newton County fire investigators are working to determine the cause and manner of a blaze at a home on Monday evening.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the pre-fabricated home located along Barber Road off McDonough Highway.
Mitchell Friel, who owns the home, tells FOX 5 he got a text message from a neighbor about the fire while he was in neighboring Rockdale County.
He told FOX 5 he rushed back to his house as soon as he heard.
"My house was completely destroyed," Friel said.
He called the house "unlivable" and said he likely would have to go to shelter.
Fire officials could not be reached for comment, but told Friel the fire was under investigation.
