Newton County middle school teacher arrested

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. - Police arrest a Newton County middle school teacher after they said he choked a student.

Jacob Hoke also serves as an assistant wrestling coach at Liberty Middle School.

Police said a grandparent called officers to the school after his grandson said Hoke choked him during practice.

Police charged Hoke with battery and cruelty to children.

The school said it is aware of the charges and Hoke is currently on administrative leave.
