WHITE COUNTY, Ga. - Nine people have been arrested in connection with several drug busts in White County.
On Jan. 22, authorities responded to 15 homes after receiving tips of illegal narcotics and stolen items.
"The goal of this operation was to remove all illegal narcotics from our streets and to deter drug dealers from selling illegal narcotics in White County," the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office said in a news release Tuesday.
The first major bust took place in the 800 block of West Kytle Street in Cleveland where authorities found one gram of methamphetamine valued at $110 and a firearm. As a result, Joshua Cunningham, Glen Goerke, Victoria Thompson, William Nicely and Thomas Trammell were arrested.
Goerke, Thompson, and Nicely were charged with possession of methamphetamine, then Cunningham and Trammel were arrested for probation violations. Thompson was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
In the 100 block of Sycamore Drive in Cleveland, investigators found one gram of meth, three codeine pills valued at $125, and a stolen trailer worth nearly $1,000. Christopher Goodsir was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of schedule III drugs, and theft by receiving.
Authorities found another gram of methamphetamine at a home on Partin Road, which is also in Cleveland. Johnny Bridgers was arrested at the scene.
The final bust happened in the 1100 block of Black Road in Cleveland, where deputies found one gram of meth, three amphetamine pills, and two grams of marijuana. Jeffrey Chastain and Amanda Anderson were charged with possession methamphetamine, possession of a schedule II drug and possession of marijuana (misdemeanor).
