Officials: Atlanta teen arrested after high-speed car chase

The Georgia State Patrol has arrested an Atlanta teen after they say he led them on a high-speed chase with a trail of destruction.

On Friday, May 3 at around 3:25 p.m., officials say a trooper looking for speeders on Interstate 20 westbound need Boulevard found a Mercedes Benz SUV driving 103 mph in a 55 mph zone.

The trooper attempted to perform a traffic stop, but investigators say the vehicle fled and left the highway.

During the chase, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and hit a parked car. The damage continued when officials say the SUV went onto the sidewalk, through a fence, and eventually landed on two parked cars at a school on the 200 block of Memorial Drive.

The driver, identified as 17-year-old Xavier Brinson, attempted to run but was arrested by two troopers. He's been charged with driving with no insurance, fleeing, hit and run, reckless driving, speeding, interfereing with government property and having a provisional license.

Officials say Brinson had four juvenile passengers.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the chase or the accidents.

The investigation is ongoing.
