Officials: Wrong-way driver killed in I-285 crash

TUCKER, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Officials say a wrong-way driver caused a deadly crash along Interstate 285 northbound early Saturday morning.

Traffic was backed up Saturday near La Vista Road in Tucker.

In video shot by FOX 5, what appears to be an SUV and another vehicle blocked most of the interstate's lanes. Both vehicles looked to be in pretty bad shape.

Residents nearby said much of the traffic was rerouted through neighborhoods for a few hours. 

Officials say the wrong-way driver was transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The driver of the other car was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
