One dead following officer-involved shooting near Cobb County apartment complex
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting near a Cobb County apartment complex Friday morning, according to police.
Roads at the Akers Mill Road remain closed between Powers Ferry Road and Cumberland Boulevard.
Cobb County Police tell FOX 5, officers were called to the Walton on the Chattahoochee apartments in the 6600 block of Akers Mill Road after receiving multiple reports of a man shooting at random things.
The suspect did not shoot anyone but did cause property damage.
According to authorities, when officers arrived at the scene, the suspect was across the street at a bus stop.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed via Twitter that they were asked to assist.
Two police officers were involved and both have been placed on routine administrative leave.
No word on whether the suspect lived in the apartment complex.
